Lego Star Wars III - The Clone Wars

My wife is a massive fan of the Lego games so she was thrilled when the next part of Lego Star Wars graced our house with its presence.   It's been long awaited and she knew it would have to be completed prior to Lego Pirates of the Caribbean.  I was sent an Xbox 360 version, so she went out and purchased a PS3 version, just so that we could play at the same time and form our own opinions.

It was soon clear that this game wasn't as playable and exciting as the other Lego games.  The usual Lego process is to follow the movie storyline closely but in a Lego world with Lego characters.   This has been the norm  for previous Star Wars games, Harry Potter, Batman etc... so when this game began in a melee of Lego people it was utter chaos.

While there are times you do do the story line, discover hidden area's and hidden characters (Indiana Jones and his father in a bookcase for instance), there are also times  - and there's a lot of them - when you have to battle the separatists to gain control of the planet.  These zones are tedious and repetitive and in my (and my wife's) opinion spoil the game flow.

There's still the usual red bricks that give you power ups, gold bricks for becoming a 'true jedi' etc and the hub where you can view your achievements,  buy characters, buy vehicles and ships  which enable you to complete the game to 100%.

While Lego games are always very repetitive (having to do it in story mode and free play to get all the collectibles) this one is extra tedious.

If you're a huge fan of Lego games and like my wife want to say that you have completed them all to 100% then go get this one. If you're not then skip this one and wait for Pirates of the Caribbean to come out later this month. That one is sure to be a true thriller.
