Turtle Beach Ear Force PX22

If you mention gaming headsets to people they instantly think Turtle Beach, so having reviewed many other top brand names we were champing at the bit to get started with these all new Ear Force PX22 wired headphones.

But steady on, let's start off with the packaging, yes packaging, let's all be honest here if the packaging looks
poor it puts us off of a bit. it has to be appealing to the eye in a store in order for people to want to buy it. Then when they get it home, they want the quality and care to start there and then. I was very impressed to see that the PX22 packaging is tight and tidy, no need for over doing the amount of inner plastic like some do! So well done to Turtle Beach for thinking of the environment :).

Moving over to the headset itself, we here at Games Booth have found it very annoying how many of the headset manufactures seem to make them way to heavy for your head to cope with - resulting in headaches, eye strain and often swiftly followed by neck strain, which ultimately reduces your game playing time and the overall enjoyment! With the PX22 headset all of the above is a thing of the past! These bad boys are comfortable to wear for hours on end. They're very light so you can almost forget you even have them on :). They cup your ears fully holding in the quality sound for your enjoyment - hell you could hear a pin drop with these! Tested with my usual stalwarts of Assassins Creed 3 and Battlefield 3 the ability to pick up the softer, detailed sounds are more of a must have then powerful, overbearing bangs! That said, the dynamic chat boost function automatically raises the volume of chat during intense, explosive game situations

So all you Call Of Duty fans out there look no further than a set of these babies.

So onto the headset, the new Ear Force PX22 by Turtle Beach is being pitched as a universal headset that I should test with my games consoles as well as my mobile devices. It’s compatible with PCs, the Xbox 360, as well as the PS3. It has independent treble, bass, and game/chat controls on its in-line remote. I guess the question, is will it be compatible with the Xbox One or PS4 though?

On the left hand side of the earphone is the mic, it’s not detachable, but does have a very flexible arm. What you do need to remember with this headset is that you need to retract the mic, using the lower part, otherwise you’ll just bend the flexible bit back and not actually turn the mic upwards towards the head – so remember to twist it from the bottom.

This is a wired headset, so it does have a cable, but it's a 16ft long cable which also contains the inline amplifier unit - which enhances the sound immensely and enables you to play with the mic settings, more importantly the chat settings. So if you like to hear the sound of your own voice above others you can - equally you can block out the ambient noises.  I do like having the freedom of wireless - I have to be honest.  Plus when you've got kids and a dog, having a wire that goes across the lounge from sofa to screen isn't ideal at all.  But, hey in the gaming room where nothing wanders into my path (just my virtual one) this isn't an issue.
As mentioned this headset is multi talented as it's can be connected to pretty much any device with a 3.5mm connection - you can hook up to consoles for gaming, or to watch movies via internet feeds on your console.  You can also connect to your mobile device and listen to music or mobile game etc. Thanks to the inline controls and the mic etc you can clearly make and receive calls.

I thoroughly enjoyed testing the Ear Force PX22 and can understand why people rate these earphones. They're great value for money at only £69.99, so you should invest in a set of these now!  BTW have you noticed that you can purchase them directly from Games Booth - just click the advert above. :)

Games Booth Rating 10/10
