70 miles of cabling, 900 litres of ice cream and over 11,000 litres of fizzy pop?

Insomnia 49 is just one week away

With a week to go until Insomnia 49, Multiplay, organiser of the UK’s largest gaming festivals, is hard at work to create its greatest gaming festival yet. Working around the clock, the festival’s organisers are leaving no stone unturned, making sure the ‘I’s’ are dotted and ‘t’s’ crossed.

If you’re travelling from around the country to the Telford international centre on Friday 23rd August, you may have travelled pretty far, perhaps equalling the 40 miles of network cable, or the 30 miles of power cables laid end-to-end through the venue.

You might have a 50” screen at home, making your home cinema experience something to behold, but you’d find it hard to compete with Insomnia49. Firstly, there’s the 16ft x 9ft and 10ft x 6ft main stage screens and almost 30 40” and 50” screens throughout the exhition hall If you combined all of these screens together, you’ have an epic 87.5ft screen. Imagine pulling off a headshot on that beauty.

Mind you, that doesn’t include the 290 monitors supplied by Multiplay forthe 100+ consoles ready and waiting in the exhibition and gaming halls for some of the best multiplayer action on console.

In case you get a little warm with all of the amazing technology, why not cool yourself down with one of the 12,000 ice-creams expected to sell over the weekend.

Insomnia 49 also includes what is probably the largest  pub quiz in the country, with hundreds of teams and over 1,000 entrants vying for some of the most sought after prizes at the show, with thousands of pints of beer sold at the on-site bar. If you aren’t able to attend the event, why not join in at home and watch the live stream instead?

For those that burn the midnight oil, Red Bull is your friend, with over 8000 cans due to be sold over the bank holiday weekend, supplemented by 11,000 litres of soda, and 7,500 litres of water.

But when you finally do tie up your steed and hit the hay to dream of electric sheep, you’d better have booked a hotel – because over 600 rooms at Telford have already been booked for the event and over 3,200 people will be camping.

Multiplay has everything in hand, and can’t wait to kick off the UK’s largest gaming festival in just over a week’s time. With the biggest and best eSports tournaments, the UK Minecraft Expo, the world premier of Starbound, the world’s best YouTube bloggers and so much more, Insomnia 49 is an event not to be missed.

Spaces to compete in the tournaments are still available online atwww.insomniagamingfestival.com. To-date, over 3,000 spaces have been reserved for ‘bring your own PC and Console’ tickets, while Multiplay is expecting up-to 20,000 visitors through the door across the weekend for the Exhibtion Hall, which features everything from the latest games, development talks and e-tailers selling the latest hardware, to retro gaming arcades and chill out zones; whilst over two million gamers will be watching video streaming online.
