OCULUS RIFT SUPPORT GOES LIVE FOR CODEMASTERS®’ MINIATURE MOTOR RACER TOYBOX TURBOS!

DIVE INTO A STUNNING 3D WORLD OF TOYS WITH THE OCULUS RIFT VIRTUAL REALITY PLATFORM AND TOYBOX TURBOS

Codemasters® has announced that arcade table-top racer Toybox Turbos for Windows PC from Steam will be updated today with free support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality platform. Playing with the Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 (DK2) virtual reality headset will fully immerse players in Toybox Turbos’ beautifully crafted environments and gives gamers a brand new way to experience the game’s charmingly chaotic racing in 18 nostalgic childhood locations.

“Virtual reality is something we’ve been super excited about since the Oculus Rift platform was first announced,” said Chris Gray, senior producer. “With Toybox Turbos we had a fantastic opportunity to do something a bit different, something unexpected. The game really changes when you play in virtual reality. Looking down from above on these intricate and beautifully detailed tracks, seeing all the interactive elements like toy trains circling the table-tops... it makes you feel like a child again, playing with toy cars on your bedroom floor. It’s a real wow moment.”

The Windows PC edition of Toybox Turbos will update automatically via Steam to offer players two ways to enjoy an incredibly immersive 3D experience in the game. The first is a chase camera that puts players right in the heart of the action as they use power-ups, take shortcuts and make jumps. The second is a third-person view of the world from above that gives the gamer a childlike sense of playing with toys as they look down on action coming alive on each lovingly-crafted table-top race track. Players can enjoy 3D gaming in Toybox Turbos in both single-player and in the game’s online multiplayer mode.

With gameplay that captures that ‘just-one-more-go’ spirit of Codemasters’ fondly remembered miniature racing titles of the ‘90s, Toybox Turbos delivers quick-fire rounds, accessible gameplay and 35 fun vehicles to play with, ranging from London taxis and police cars to milk floats, golf carts, diggers and more! Toybox Turbos features a series of cups to win in the game’s single-player mode, plus both online racing and single-screen local multiplayer gaming for up to four-players.
