The Great UK GAME Off 2015
Videogames retailer begins quest to find the UK’s best gamer
Ultimate showdown to crown the winner to be held on main stage at Insomnia

Fancy yourself a speedster on Forza, the Ronaldo of the FIFA world, or a legend at LEGO games? This summer, GAME is giving players of all abilities up and down the country the chance to earn their stripes and be crowned the ultimate gamer, as the retailer announces the launch of its first ever gaming competition– The Great UK Game Off.

Kicking off on the 3rd August with a series of heats in selected GAME stores, an epic final ‘controller-off’ will be held in November on the main stage at the UK’s biggest gaming event, Insomnia 56. And, if consigning their name to the annals of video gaming history in front of thousands isn’t temptation enough to take part, the winner will also take home over a year’s worth of gaming supplies in the shape of a £5,000 GAME Gift Card.

To get involved and take on some of the UK’s best gaming talent, gamers only need to sign up at participating stores* and prove their worth across a series of point challenges on cult classics such as FIFA 15, Forza 6, Mario Kart and LEGO Jurassic World. Winners of the different heats could also see their names take pride of place in their local GAME store and as one of the elite few on the online ‘Hall of GAME’, earning them legendary status amongst friends and adversaries.

There are great prizes to be won at both store and regional level including annual passes to VUE cinemas and 100 reward points for anyone taking part, meaning everyone’s a winner.

Fred Prego, Marketing and Insight Director at GAME, says: “This is the first time we’ve ever done anything like this. Following the acquisition of Multiplay earlier this year and the success of our community events, we’ve been looking at ways of bringing grass roots Esports to our stores and this is the perfect opportunity to give one lucky gamer the recognition of a lifetime.

We live and breathe gaming and we want to give our community, whatever their skill level, the chance to earn official gaming accolades and maybe even play in front of thousands at Insomnia. As a player progresses through the later stages they won’t just be representing themselves, but the North and South of England. Who knows what part of the country our winner will hail from?”
