Cooking Mama back for more: Indoor and Outdoor

Hey, here's one for all the budding little chefs out there - the popular Cooking Mama franchise has announced two more games - which you should add to your Christmas lists.
My daughter loves these games and will definitely want to have a go at these at some point.
Cooking Mama 4 for 3DS and Cooking Mama World: Outdoor Adventures for DS. Every gamer’s favourite domestic goddess is back in the kitchen working her magic, and this time the kitchen gloves are also off in an all new outdoor environment.
Mama returns to doing what she does best; turning budding chefs into culinary artists, for the first time in 3D via the unique Nintendo 3DS display in Cooking Mama 4. Hundreds of new dishes are available to master, and now combine into brand new creations. Certain combinations will unlock new recipes and minigames, challenging players to engage their kitchen creativity as well as their chopping skills and up to four players can compete to chase high scores and topple existing records in Challenge Mode.

In Cooking Mama World: Outdoor Adventures, join Mama and her family as they explore Adventure Island through hundreds of outdoor mini-games, 38 stages and untold treasure and secrets to uncover. Five areas on the island contain a variety of challenges including; Cooking – cutting and peeling fruit, grilling fish and clams on the barbeque, Making – create a spider catcher, craft a net or build a bonfire, Action – catch fish, cut down trees and pick flowers, Answer – identify jungle objects and creatures! Players will be able to decorate their base camp with treasure they uncover on the island and create their own camping picture book to document their discoveries.

“Our longstanding relationship with Cooking Mama Limited has made Mama a symbol of our company and a flagship franchise for our business,” commented Ralph Pitt-Stanley, Commercial Director, 505 Games. “The new announcements in the series are always a pillar event in our release calendar, and with Mama’s long awaited appearance on 3DS, this year will be no exception.”

Both Cooking Mama 4 for 3DS and Cooking Mama World: Outdoor Adventuresfor DS will be released this winter in time for the holiday season. For more information please go to www.505games.co.uk

All you need to know about Metro: Last Light

Hi all,

So here's loads of information about the forthcoming game from THQ - Metro:Last Light.  From what I can tell it looks like it's going to be another good sequel game.

The team has also informed us that they will drip feed us trailers  - starting with Part 1 below between now and the launch date - sometime in 2012. .

The hugely anticipated sequel to 2010’s multiple Interactive Achievement Award finalist, Metro 2033,will be available for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and Windows PC.
Metro: Last Light will immerse the player in the haunting, desolate ruins of post-apocalyptic Moscow, one of the most richly detailed and beautifully realised gaming worlds of modern times. Developer 4A Games will deliver a terrifying, atmospheric single-player adventure that fuses thrilling combat with exploration and survival horror to create a unique, memorable experience.

“We believe that Metro 2033 was a flawed masterpiece,” said Danny Bilson, EVP Core Games, THQ. “It was a beautiful, original game that didn’t get the marketing support it needed. We won’t make that mistake with Metro: Last Light. This game improves on the original in every way – it will have more polish, deeper and more sophisticated gameplay, and satisfyingly visceral combat, without losing what our fans loved about the original. Metro: Last Light is another artful piece of game development from an Eastern European studio that will thrill and terrify anyone looking for a more cerebral experience than your typical first person shooter.”

Metro: Last Light pitches the player into the midst of a desperate civil war for control over a doomsday device that threatens to destroy humanity forever. The epic single-player campaign and unique multiplayer experience will benefit from the extraordinary lighting, physics and destruction made possible by Metro: Last Light’s bespoke 4A Engine technology.

But rather than stand united, the station-cities of the Metro are locked in a struggle for the ultimate power, a doomsday device from the military vaults of D6. A civil war is stirring that could wipe humanity from the face of the earth forever.

As Artyom, burdened by guilt but driven by hope, you hold the key to our survival – the last light in our darkest hour…

What a week!

My god what a week I've had and I don't think it's going to stop there.  I know it's been a week since my last post but that's because I've not stopped and haven't even had time to check out that latest gaming news or even played on my PS3 or Xbox.

I'm also renovating my house downstairs  - the new kitchen went in over the weekend so we're almost there with that bit.  My wife and I were so busy that we even forgot it was our 12th wedding anniversary on Sunday until someone mentioned it in the afternoon.

Anyway on with some quick news updates.

Console versus iPad / iPod / iPhone

Just thought I'd do a quick post to ask you how do you feel about the console versus Apple device debate? many are saying that the console market is losing out and declining because of the rise in quality HD  iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch games.

Do you feel this way? I don't....

There's a whole heap of exciting games coming out later this year that'll only be worth playing on a big screen and via a console, here would be an appropriate place for me mention Battlefield 3 and Batman: Arkham City.

Are you someone who uses mobile devices to game aswell as consoles? Would you ditch your console for your mobile only device?

I'm not against mobile gaming at all, in fact i think the Battlefield BC on the iPad 2 is a reasonable game (not a scratch on the PS3 version though) and some of the hidden items games that my daughter enjoys are much more 'user friendly' on an ipad than the laptop, but not good for playing on the iPhone.

I guess the makers of angry Birds agrees that console gaming is also a way forward, now that we'll see it's popular iPhone game appearing as a console game soon.

Anyway let us know your thoughts
