Kirk Spencer Remixes
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception Soundtrack
Exciting new talent, Kirk Spencer has been commissioned by Sony Computer Entertainment to remix the soundtrack for Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception - one of the most hotly anticipated titles of 2011 - exclusively on PlayStation®3. The tracks have been made available to  fans to listen and download from Kirk Spencer's SoundCloud page (www.soundcloud.com/kirkspencer )

Speaking of the project Kirk said:
"Uncharted 3 looks like one of the best action games I've seen in a while. It's a game that I would take a day off just to complete. To be asked to work with the music from it is such a great feeling because I've grown up playing PlayStation Games."
"I wanted to make the tracks follow the action packed theme of the game and be quite cinematic. It was hard at first because I wouldn't usually be thinking too much about visuals but as soon as I saw the trailer I knew what direction I was going to take. I've given them my twist which is quite electronic and hopefully people will like what I've done with them."
UK Product Manager for Uncharted 3: Kerri West commented:
"We came across Kirk's previous work and we were really impressed with his talent at working with non-western musical influences. His sound is perfect for getting across the adventure and epic scale of Uncharted 3. We're really pleased with the final tracks because they express these values effortlessly with Kirk's great use of synth, base and production values making them feel fresh and contemporary."

Kirk Spencer is a Nottingham born Producer/Artist. His solo singles, Flying Through India, Hota Hai, Enter The Void and Gold have received national airplay on Radio 1 and BBC Asian Network. He played the Leeds and Reading Festivals on the BBC Introducing Stage this year with Marita on vocals and Ben Fawse on drums.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is the latest instalment in the multimillion selling Uncharted franchise developed exclusively for PlayStation 3 by critically-acclaimed developer Naughty Dog. Playable in Stereoscopic 3D, Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception will take players on a cinematic journey to spectacular locations across the globe, as fortune hunter Nathan Drake embarks on a high-stakes expedition into the mystic heart of the Arabian Desert.

London Games Conference

APPLE VOTED BIGGEST INFLUENCE ON VIDEO GAMES INDUSTRY
London Games Conference, 10 November 2011, One Wimpole Street
Forget PlayStation, the Internet or Mario, it seems Apple has had the biggest impact on the world of video games according to a survey of 1,000 people working within the industry itself.

Apple founder and all round IT visionary Steve Jobs was voted most influential person with 26 per cent of the overall vote (and 46 per cent of the top five winners’ vote). And Apple’s hero gaming device - the iPhone – received one in six (17 per cent) of the votes to take the most influential product moniker.

The top five people and products from the survey, which was carried out by the London Games Conference (10 November, central London), are below:

Top five people to have shaped video games
(First figures are percentage of overall vote; second are percentage of top five votes)

·         Steve Jobs                                                                 26%    46%
·         Gabe Newell  (co-founder and managing director of Valve)  16%    29%
·         Shigeru Miyamoto (developer of Mario, Donkey Kong, Zelda) 7%    12%
·         Tim Berners-Lee (inventor of the world wide web)               4%     8%
·         Mark Zuckerberg (founder of Facebook)                            3%     5%

Top five products to have shaped video games

·         Apple’s iPhone                                                             17%    53%
·         Nintendo Wii console                                                      7%    22%
·         Xbox Live                                                                     3%      9%
·         The original PlayStation console                                       3%      9%
·         Steam (digital distribution)                                              2%      7%

“In just over three years the iPhone and the App Store have transformed what consumers expect of games, and how the industry makes and sells them – today, download games have come to the fore. Steve Jobs, the iPhone’s driving force, was the ultimate independent developer – uncompromising in his vision, with unquestionable influence, and hugely artistic and commercial results,” commented Michael French, editor in chief, MCV, the leading trade magazine of the video games industry.

“Apple thrived by linking ultra-desirable mobile devices to compelling online services. Likewise, the web and connected services like Facebook and Steam have transformed how humans behave and interact, so it’s little wonder to see all of these products and their progenitors Tim Berners-Lee, Gabe Newell and Mark Zuckerberg rank highly in our London Games Conference survey.

“LGC is the only event dedicated to examining the ways connected gaming has transformed video games – we will be welcoming 300 industry professionals to head great leaders speak and discuss hot topics including how smartphone games are transforming the world.”
