RC Enthusiasts Fly LEGO® Superman 500 Feet Over London
Remote LEGO Minifig Swoops Over Capital To Celebrate Release of LEGO Batman 2: DC Super HeroesVideogame

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a tiny LEGO® Superman minifig going where the Man of Steel has never gone before: 500 feet above the streets of London!
The 1.5 cm high LEGO Superman took to the skies with a little help from some friends at Kaos RC, who staged the flight to celebrate the release of LEGO® Batman™ 2: DC Super Heroes on June 22 for the Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3, Wii™, Windows PC, as well as Nintendo DS™, Nintendo 3DS™, and PlayStation®Vita.

The technology it takes to make a man fly proved to be remarkably straightforward.  The Kaos RC team attached the man from Krypton to their £3,000 helicopter using a cocktail stick and some cable ties, then set about performing a series of gravity-defying stunts 500 feet in the air.  The action was captured on a GoPro HD camera mounted on the front of the helicopter, which provided spectacular views of London.

The helicopter used required the same clearance as commercial airlines – and you can see why in the cinematic footage, which shows LEGO Superman flying high above Hyde Park, Docklands, Primrose Hill and Soho.

“As massive fans of the LEGO games, we wanted to replicate what you can do in LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes,” says Gavin Murrell, Managing Director, Kaos RC. “In the game, Superman can fly anywhere he likes over Gotham City – and we’ve done that over London.”
“The LEGO games are all about making people smile, and we hope that’s what we’ve achieved with this footage,” adds Murrell.
