With just over two weeks to go until this year’s Eurogamer Expo (#EGX) it’s high time we gave you an update on all the amazing features we have planned for you.
Let’s start with hardware. We’re delighted that both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will be playable on our show floor, giving you the chance to try out the next generation of consoles two months before they’re released in this country. Which machine will come out on top? See them go head-to-head in a few short weeks.
It isn’t just about the next gen consoles though. We’re ridiculously excited about the prospect of Oculus Rift and you’ll be able to try out the brand new virtual reality headset via a dedicated stand on our packed show floor. Finally on the hardware front, make sure you take the time to check out Shield, the new handheld machine from Nvidia. There’s no UK release date for the machine at time of writing, so Eurogamer Expo is your best chance to take it for a spin.
Let’s talk about the games. The show floor is packed with big names including The Elder Scrolls Online, Battlefield 4, Dark Souls 2 and Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. But look outside the mainstream and you’ll find an array of intriguing indie titles; Sir, You Are Being Hunted (GotS at Rezzed 2013), Frozen Endzone, Hotline Miami 2 and Fist of Awesome are just a small selection of the fantastic games available for you to play in the Indie Games Arcade and Rezzed zones. Head to the What’s On page for the current line-up of games.
Look out as well for a host of new and improved features at this year’s Expo. For the first time we’ll have board games complete with demonstrators to give you a guiding hand, a selection of pinball machines and an art gallery kitted out with amazing pieces of concept art printed on large canvases. There’s the all new cosplay stage, the return of the massively popular tournament area and the GamesIndustry Fair on Thursday and Friday. There’s tons to do to keep you entertained during your visit.
Although we’re rapidly approaching this year’s event we still have lots to reveal including the full developer sessions schedule and Sony’s list of playable PlayStation 4 games. And, as always, there’s bound to be a number of last minute surprises to keep you on your toes.
