Wreck it Ralph – Nintendo DS

Sorry, but this game just wasn’t up to scratch and someone does need to Wreck It.  I’m becoming more and more disappointed with games for the Nintendo DS. Now I know it’s not the most feature rich of the handheld consoles – far from it – but surely game developers can do something with its features. If not, then don’t bother bringing games out for it.

My daughter loves playing on her DS, but this game bored her senseless and I have to be honest, slightly put her off even going to see the movie.   I needed to see if her moaning was justified, so I took the controls.

OK, so Ralph is a character from within an old gaming machine, who wants a bit of an adventure, wants to break out of his every day routine.  Ralph and buddy Fix-It Felix set out together to save their friend s from a Cy-Bug invasion. That’s the basic storyline. Yawn.

The levels within this game are all very much alike, so once you’ve played the first few you get the idea and actually don’t want to complete the rest.  It’s almost like playing a very very early demo version of Mario. Run along brick walls, smash a few and those obstacles you can’t use brute force on, get your slimmer, sprightlier mate to do it.

Sorry Disney and co, this really has let you down.  I hope the film isn’t as dull after all its promotion. Come on you can do better than this!
