Online voting for the Pan-European public choice award for games lasts until August 13
Votes for the European Games Award are coming in thick and fast as the intensity rises to find out who will win the top awards this year. Over 100.000 votes have been submitted online at http://www.european-games-award.com/index.php/voting and a new voting record has already been broken. Games, developers, publishers, magazines and platforms from 15 countries compete until August 13, 2012, for the much sought-after prize in the gaming industry – the European Games Award. The winnerswill be announced on August 14 on the sailing event locationPure-liner 1, as a prelude to the gamescom trade fair in Cologne.The European Games Award offers a brilliant overview of the Pan-European gaming landscape. The jury chooses the 100 best titles of more than 400 computer- and videogames, which are being developed every year in Europe, but leaves the final choice of the favourites to the games fans. The voting is carried out in 20 categories, e. g. “Best European Game“, “Best European Gameworld“ and “Europe’s Most Wanted Game“. Two categories are new this year – “Most Wanted Online Game” and “Best European Character Design“. However, the European Games Award not only honours the games, but also all the people who made a contribution to their development. So the “Best European Studio“, “Best European Publisher” and the “Best European Community” will be chosen as well. The “Personality Award“ goes to a person who render ed the mostoutstanding services to the gaming industry in the past year.

Front runners are at this moment the Polish triple-A production “The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings“, the Swedish first-person shooter “Battlefield 3“, as well as the open world game “Minecraft“ and its developer Markus Persson. The score will be hidden one week before the voting ends to generate high audience and candidate excitement. The winner of each category will be announced and awarded during the ceremony in an expectant ambiance.
