World first as farm is twinned with video game series

Harvest Moon twins with Surrey Docks Farm to celebrate the latest releases in the Harvest Moon series: Harvest Moon Grand Bazaar and Rune Factory 3

Today saw the first ‘twinning’ of a video game series with a farm! Independent leading UK publisher, Rising Star Games, have ‘twinned’ their Harvest Moon series with Surrey Docks Farm in London, in the first ‘twinning’ of its kind. Most ‘twinnings’ usually take place between similar major cities from different parts of the world. This is the first case of a real-world place ‘twinning’ with a virtual reality environment.

Gary Jones, Manager, Surrey Docks Farm said: “We recently worked with the team at Rising Star Games when they came down to the farm as part of a press trip. We got along really well with the team and were very impressed with the Harvest Moon games. Since then we’ve stayed in touch and we’ll be looking to work together on future titles. There’s clearly a connection between Surrey Docks Farm and the Harvest Moon series so we thought we’d make it official.”

Martin Defries, Managing Director, Rising Star Games, said: “It’s brilliant that we’re merging real life farming with virtual farming. We had a great experience working with the wonderful people at Surrey Docks Farm and we’ll now be permanently connected with them through our ‘twinning’.”

Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar
The mother of all farming games and top farming brand on the DS returns with all new features, pets and crops. Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar has all the classic gaming features of the series and great additions including windmills to let you combine ingredients to make goods to sell at the Bazaar, a new jump movement that enables players to jump up hills and over streams, the horse race festival returns and you can own multiple pets to help work your farm.  Players can use the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection to help their friends with farming, shop at their bazaar, or go fishing in their streams.

Rune Factory 3: A Fantasy Harvest Moon Rune Factory 3: A Fantasy Harvest Moon continues the proud tradition of its predecessors by offering a combination of Harvest Moon farming mechanics and RPG action, all wrapped in an engrossing storyline. Players can train monsters while farming, fishing and gathering, and friendly villagers will join them in battle. The new online multiplayer mode allows up to three players to combine forces, conquer dungeons, and compare their accomplishments.
